We realize it’s easier to ignore local elections than it is to pay attention.

Local candidates aren’t plastered everywhere you look like national candidates, such as those running for president.

An omnibus crime bill passed by the Missouri General Assembly this past session banned texting while driving for motorists 21 and younger. It didn’t go far enough, and it’s discriminatory.

Introducing a tax issue is never a popular move, especially during an economic downturn. The move to place an issue on the Nov. 3 ballot asking for a 12-year extension of the one-eighth-cent Clay County law enforcement sales tax, though, is necessary and right.
