The Clay County Health Center, local doctor’s offices, and pharmacies have been able to provide H1N1 vaccinations to thousands of Clay County residents. The H1N1 virus is still present in our area because cases of influenza throughout Missouri and Kansas continue to be reported. It is not unusual for a pandemic to occur in three waves. Historically the months of January, February and March are the peak season for influenza.

Inclement weather has led to the limited opening of Clay County offices Thursday, Jan. 7, with skeletal crews. The decision was announced the evening of Jan. 6.

The fight goes on.

Just three days before Christmas on Dec. 22, area residents came out by the hundreds to receive the vaccine against the swine flu at a clinic hosted by the Clay County Public Health Center.
