The new Smithville branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library will not open Monday, Nov. 2, as planned.

Jim Staley, spokesman for the library district, said that the delay is mostly weather related. Weather has delayed work related to pouring the driveway, he said.

The new opening date is not yet certain, Staley said.

The old library closed Oct. 19. Smithville will be without a library until the new building, located just south of Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital-Smithville Campus on U.S. Highway 169, opens.
