Here is a roundup of various Halloween events around the Northland

FRIDAY, OCT. 23

• Fright Night at Park University will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Copley Quad. The community service event is open to the community. Children through 12 years of age can participate in trick-or-treating in the residence halls and enjoy outdoor carnival games. Admission is free.

• The North Kansas City Public Library, 2251 Howell St., will be transformed into a haunted library for the annual Library Haunted House from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. The haunted stacks will be open for children ages 13 and older for $3 presale or $5 at the door. For more information, call 221-3360.

SATURDAY, OCT. 24

• The annual Family Ghost Story Night at the Parkville Nature Sanctuary will be from 6 to 9 p.m. It will feature a haunted trail and the traditional pumpkin trail. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Those attending will be greeted at the trailhead in the lower parking lot at Missouri Highway 9 and 12th Street. Reservations may be made by calling 741-7676.

• The North Kansas City Community Center Boo Bash will feature trick-or-treating, a moonwalk, music, dancing, games, crafts, a cookie walk, face painting and more for children 12 and younger. Festivities will start at 4 p.m. at the community center, 1999 Iron St. All activities are free and open to the public. For more information, call 300-0531.

• The Liberty branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, 1000 Kent St., will present “Things That Go Bump in the Library,” creepy, eerie, “not-too-scary” stories for children. The event will be at 10 a.m. for ages 4 and older. Registration is required. To register, call 781-9240.

• Borders Books will host a Kids Halloween Spooktacular at 3 p.m. at 8628 N. Boardwalk Ave. There will be fun games, spooky music and scary crafts. The event is free.

• McMurry United Methodist Church, 25 Eugene Field Road in Claycomo, will host its annual Fall Festival. The fun begins at 4 p.m. with trunk-or-treat for the children and other activities. The event is free to attend.

SUNDAY, OCT. 25

• Gashland United Methodist Church will host a trunk-or-treat event from 4 to 5 p.m. Children, fifth grade and younger are invited. There will be a haunted bus, lots of trunks to visit, free hot dogs, s’mores, games and more. The church is at 7715 N. Oak Trafficway.

MONDAY, OCT. 26

• Boy Scout Troop 155 will host its annual trunk-or-treat event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Fairview Christian Church, 1800 N.E. 65th St.

TUESDAY, OCT. 27

• The Parkville branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, 8815 Tom Watson Parkway, will present “Be Afraid, Very Afraid,” at 6:30 p.m. Milton Gray will tell scary stories to teens about the supernatural and other strange happenings. Registration is required. To register, call 741-4721.

• Children are invited to a trunk-or-treat event in the parking lot of the Riverside Community Center, 4498 N.W. High Drive, where candy will be handed out from decorated cars. The event will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Halloween movies will also be available for viewing inside the community center. For information, contact Lori at 741-4172.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28

• The North Kansas City Public Library, 2251 Howell St., will present Halloween Spooktacular for children at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and includes Halloween craft making and trick-or-treating in the safety of the library. Children can come in costume. For more information, call 221-3360.

• The Boardwalk branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, 8656 N. Ambassador Drive, will present “Be Afraid, But Not Too Afraid,” creepy, eerie, “not-too-scary” stories for children at 7 p.m. The event is open to all ages. Registration is required. To register, call 741-9011.

FRIDAY, OCT. 30

• The Sertoma Club of Liberty will host a Halloween party as a benefit for the Liberty Community Christmas Tree program. It will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at Heritage Hall, 117 W. Kansas St. There will be music, light hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar. Prizes will be awarded for the best male and female Saturday Night Live and best original costumes. Tickets at $15 per person or $25 per couple and can be purchased at By the Book or at the door.

• A Halloween costume party fundraiser, sponsored by Howard Porter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5717, its Ladies Auxiliary and Rachel Foote, will be from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Annunciation Center in Kearney. The event will benefit the NorthCare Hospice Residence Project. Tickets are $20 per person.

• The city of Pleasant Valley and the Pleasant Valley Civic Organization’s Halloween party is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. in the basement of the Pleasant Valley Community Building, 6805 Sobbie Road. The party is for kids up to 12 years old. There will be prizes, games and trunk-or-treats. Police and fire departments will also have vehicles on hand.

• Gladstone Parks and Recreation, River & Prairie Storyweavers and the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce will present Friday Fright Night from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will be at the Gladstone Amphitheatre in Oak Grove Park, Northeast 76th Street and North Troost Avenue. The event is free for all ages and includes ghost stories and trick-or-treating.

• The Platte County Community North will host its annual trunk-or-treat festival. The free community event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants can come in costume.

• New Mark Care Center will host “Fright Free Trick or Treating” from 6 to 7 p.m. at the center, 11221 N. Nashua Drive, in Kansas City. Decorations will transform the center into four different “worlds” for children: Willy Wonka, Winnie the Pooh, super heroes and Disney princesses.

SATURDAY, OCT. 31

• First Baptist Church’s trunk-or-treat event will be at the church, 2205 Iron St. in North Kansas City. Free chili and hot dogs will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the church basement and church members will be handing out candy from their decorated car trunks in the parking lot. The event is free. For more information, call 842-1175.

• A trunk-or-treat event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 4330 N. Oak Street Trafficway. Treats and prizes will be given out to all the little ghosts and goblins who attend. There will be a bounce house and games.

• Northland Neighborhood’s annual safe trick-or-treat event will be 5 to 9 p.m. at Antioch Shopping Center. The haunted house will be open from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The event is hosted by Northland Neighborhoods and Kansas City Police Department-Shoal Creek Division.

• Briarcliff Village’s trick-or-treat party will be from 3 to 6 p.m. There will be pumpkin painting at Green Acres, along with snacks and refreshments. Costumes are welcome.

• The merchants in Liberty are sponsoring “Trick-or-Treating on the Square” from 4 to 6 p.m. in Liberty. Children can walk from store to store to collect their treats from participating merchants.

• Liberty Christian Fellowship’s trunk-or-treat party will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church, 1815 W. Liberty Drive. There will be decorated car trunks full of candy, a free giant slide, a free portrait, free drawings for prizes, a free puppet show and kids band. • A fall festival party for children 3 to 11 years of age will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 4947 N.E. Chouteau Drive. There will be balloons, hayride, a light supper, games and fun. The event is free. The church requests no violent costumes.

• All ghosts, witches, goblins and ghouls are invited to Historic Downtown Parkville for safe and fun trick-or-treating at participating shops and businesses. The event will take place all day, during regular business hours.

• Golden Living Center will host “Safe Trick-or-Treating” for children from 6 to 8 p.m. at the center, 106 Hospital Drive in Smithville. The center’s residents will pas out candy in the dining room. The first 50 children will receive prizes. Apple cider and cookies will be available.

• Grace Community Church will host “Trunks & Treats” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in its parking lot, 601 S. U.S. Highway 169 in Smithville. Church members will fill their decorated car trunks with candy, and children who attend can trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk. Hot chocolate will be served afterward

• The North Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department will present the Family Fun Night Halloween Party at 11 a.m. at Macken Park. A disc jockey will have tricks for costumed kids and clowns will entertain with balloon sculptures. Other activities include train rides, bubbles, trick-or-treat bags and prizes. Donuts and juice will be provided. The event is free. For more information, call 300-0545.

• Northwest Bible Church will be hosting a Fall Festival from 3 to 5 p.m. There will be games for children as well as candy and prizes. Admission is free. The church is at 6520 N.W. 64th St. For more information, call 741-0670.
